MWDA is a strong women’s organization that works daily to ensure women’s human rights. MWDA believes that when women and girls have full access to their rights – from access to education, freedom from violence, sexual rights, maternal health rights to land ownership rights – will true equality exist. Only when women have taken leadership and peacemaking roles and have an equal political voice will economies and countries be transformed. MWDA organises workshops, seminars and conferences to build women and girls capacities for self-determination. MWDA develops strategies to lobby for changes in traditions and laws that affect women and girls negatively,

Impact of Political Crises

MWDA has been very concerned with the escalating conflict which began back in October 2016, In recent months, armed groups seeking to establish the independent Federal Republic of Ambazonia (Southern Cameroons) have been engaged in frequent and violent gun battles with the government’s elite forces. Government forces have been accused of carrying out a number of atrocities and human rights violations.

The Multifaceted Impacts On Women and Children
In the meantime, the upsurge in hostilities has compounded pre-existing vulnerabilities for women, girls and children in Cameroon’s English-speaking regions.
