Women Development Association

Mbonweh Women’s Development Association is a women-led NGO in Cameroon that strives for equal justice and fair treatment of all irrespective of gender. The Association works a range of initiatives including education and vocational training, sustainable agriculture, women’s empowerment, micro-credit, social welfare, and human rights.

Vision

To Improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children through education – Ensure womens human rights and participation in decision making through sensitisation and advocacy. – Increase health and reduce mortality through health education – Improve womens economic rights through micro-enterprise development.

Mission

To empower women, children, youths and indeginous communities through development programs to move from crisis and poverty into stability and self sufficiency

Objectives of Mbonweh Women
Development Association

To empower women through initiatives focused on economic self-sufficiency, access to healthcare and education, combating gender-based violence, and advocating for women’s rights within the community, essentially working to improve the overall wellbeing and social status of women in Cameroon.

Economic empowerment

Providing microcredit schemes, vocational training programs, and business development support to enable women to generate income and become financially independent.

Education and awareness

Promoting girls' education, organizing literacy campaigns, and raising awareness about important health issues like reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.

Health access

Facilitating access to healthcare services for women, including prenatal care, family planning, and treatment for common illnesses.

Gender-based violence prevention

Implementing programs to address and prevent domestic violence against women, including awareness campaigns and support for survivors.

Community advocacy

Engaging with local leaders and government officials to advocate for policies and legislation that promote gender equality.
